Casio was founded in 1946 as Kadio Cisakujo, Tado Kashio (1917 to 1993), an engineer focusing on invented technology. Kashio’s main significant result was the yubiva pipe, a finger ring that is present in the form of a cigarette, allowing the wearer to smoke the cigarette fins, while also freeing the wearer’s hand. Japan was consumed soon after World War II, so cigarettes were valuable, and the discovery was a success.
After seeing the electronic calculator at the first business show in Ginza, Tokyo, in April 1949, Kashio and his blooming brothers (Kazuo, Toshio, and Yukio) used their earnings from Ubiva Pipe to improve their calculator. Most calculators at the time were completed using gears and could be accomplished using a crank or using a motor.
Toshio retained some knowledge of electronics and determined to obtain a calculator using solenoids. The desk-shaped calculator was acquired in April 1954 and was Japan’s leading electro-mechanical calculator. One of the calculator’s primary and more important innovations was the appropriation of its 10-key number pad; Other calculators at the time were building a full keypad, suggesting that the number contained nine keys at each location. Another distinct variation was the use of a single display window, preferably of the three display windows used in other calculators.
