Ajay Singh Deol born on October 19, 1956, Is known as in Bollywood Sunny Deol, is an Indian actor, producer, director, and politician. Born into a Jat family, he is currently a member of parliament for Lok Sabha from Gurdaspur in Punjab. Sunny Deol is known for his work in Hindi cinema. During a thirty-five-year film career and over a hundred films, Sunny Deol won two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards.
He debuted alongside Amrita Singh in the film Desat (1982). He then starred in several successful films in the 1980s and 1990s. He debuted as a director and producer with the film Dilgi, in which he starred alongside brother Bobby Deol. His critically acclaimed works include Manzil Manzil (1984), Savere Wali Gadi (1986), Sultanat (1986), Dacoit (1987), Yatim (1988), Veerta (1993), Imran (1994), Salakhen (1998), and Farz (2001).
With the interpretation of an amateur boxer accused of killing his brother in 1990 in Rajkumar Santoshi’s critical and commercial hit film, Injured, Sunny Deol was widely recognized and acclaimed. The film won seven Filmfare awards and its performance earned it the Filmfare award for Best Actor and the National Film Award – Special Jury / Special Mention Award (Feature Film). One of his lawyers in the film Damini – Lightning (1993) won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Gadar Ek Prem Katha (2001) by Anil Sharma, in which Deol plays a trucker who falls in love with a Muslim, Bollywood’s highest-grossing film at the time of its release, and she won another best actor award. Deol’s hit films include The Hero, Apne, Yamla Pagla Deewana, A Spy’s Love Story, and Ghayal Once Again. These achievements have established him as a leading actor in the Hindi film industry. He is married to Pooja Deol, who has two children. Sunny Deol has been a member of the BJP of Gurdaspur (Punjab) since May 23, 2019
